Hi:
I'm Jordan. I live in Toronto. I'm 33. For the most part I'm an integrated
marketing consultant but I'm also doing product development and I'm
increasingly interested in corporate change.
In particular I'm turned on by corporate sustainability and engaging
stakeholders in walking the walk, rather than just talking the talk, of
corporate social responsibility. I'm brainstorming lately with some people
I'm finding to be especially brilliant who are getting me excited about
organizational spirituality. I'm currently reading Cradle to Cradle and the
new book by Peter Senge (et all) called Presence.
It took a while to find this focus...
My background is in fashion so I tend to think about branding whatever it is
that I'm working on in a way that is akin to how a fashion brand is
developed and viscerally resonates with people. I translated that into
working for a while in the world of alcoholic beverage.
Launching a little Canadian beverage brand into the US beer market is my
biggest claim to fame. I used that experience to get a consulting gig doing
new product, packaging and promotional innovation for an international beer
company.
In that role I became immersed in the power of the web and helped develop an
application that involves thousands of consumers in "innovating" on behalf
of brands that they buy. Shortly there after I was hired to design an
online trend spotting and archiving toolbox as part of a new approach to
creative ideation for a start up marketing services agency with mostly
packaged good clients.
The 'trending fueling creativity' work got me excited by DeBono and the
academia of creative process. Consequently in the last year I've added
facilitated ideation to my service offerings and I've done some cool
projects in that area.
I'm also into futuring - just got back from the World Future society
conference in Chicago and I'm on the development committee for World Future
2006 which is in Toronto next summer.
Currently I've got a contract to develop and launch a new product in the
financial services industry. This project will wrap up before the end of
the year and then I'll be looking for something to do next.
I've been researching on-line collaboration and that's how I landed here.
I'm auto sorting this list into a folder so I can review it once a week
rather than fill my inbox - so I may not be a regular contributor but I'll
definitely add my two cents where I can help out. Feel free to e-mail me
directly if you've got similar interests: jherald at rogers.com
Ciao,
JH.
