[Imagination Club] How to avoid plane hijacks

The sleeping idea would be great for nervous passengers too. Put bluntly, if
the plane crashes you don't know about it :)

Two thoughts on the problem:

1) Remote-controlled planes.
2) Or a 'panic button' for the pilot that switches the plane to remote
control.

The following ideas are a bit controversial and although they don't directly
address the problem of hijacks they would help airlines to encourage
passengers nervous about hijacks to fly again:

1) Women-only flights.
2) Flights where the plane passengers have to be the nationality of the
country the plane is departing from.

and less controversial: flights for (very) frequent flyers only.

Hello Inder and thanks for the great challenge!

A couple of ideas come to mind...

1) Prohibit any carry-on luggage and require that
passengers fly naked. That would prevent anyone from
sneaking a weapon on board. If people are shy, perhaps the
airline could provide swim-suits.

2) Build an ejector-seat like mechanism in the floor
between the passenger cabin and the crew cabin. A push of a
button by the crew would eject anyone, who is standing by
the door to the crew cabin, into the sky.

3) Just before boarding time, give everyone a sleeping drug
so they fall asleep. Then put them in stacked cots inside
the aeroplane. Since everyone would be asleep, no one could
hijack the plane. In fact, sleeping through a long flight
is about the best way to endure a long flight. Moreover,
airlines could save money on meals, in-flight movies and
other services as well as avoid air rage, rude passengers
and other trouble makers.
