My bank, for instance, provides a full range of services, including many
on line services common to those that offer on line banking, bill
paying, review of statements, integration of charges, checking, savings,
etc. Banks strive for customer service, and this will continue to grow
and evolve as they add even more financially related services to their
menu. As more and more companies, professionals, etc. add bill paying
to the services the bank provides, a bill will be able to be paid with
the ease of a paypal-like account or a credit card account. Banks could
tighten up their security with on line transactions, as many people I
know don't bank on line for fear of a security breach.
I see a need for a bank in a town that would be perceived as the
"People's Bank" - maybe owned by the community with the sale of shares,
etc. This bank would work hand in hand with Realtors, investment
counselors, etc., so the line separating them is almost indistinguishable.
Above all, an offering of a complete menu of services, no matter how big
the deposit. The young man that banks his paper-route money should have
the same access to services as the millionaire on the hill. Many people
still do not trust banks, and keep their savings in the mattress or in a
tin box in the barn.
